Tata Motors has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to set up a new electric vehicle and battery assembly plant with a proposed investment of about ₹9,000 crore over a multi-year period. The facility is planned in the Hosur–Krishnagiri belt and is expected to create several thousand direct and indirect jobs. The company said the plant will support its next generation of passenger EVs and commercial electric vehicles, expanding capacity beyond its existing EV lines in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Tata Motors is locking in additional EV capacity in the south, which can help meet rising demand for electric cars and buses while spreading its manufacturing footprint.
